Cultivating vines has always been an important part of economy in Skradin region. Evidence of that exists even today, in antic Roman villa rustica where grapes and olives still flourish. “Whomever accepts to plant vines on someone’s land, has to care for it twice a year, under the penalty of 4 lybra. Similar penalty will happen to anyone who recieved a vineyard for care, and didn’t do it according to the scripture.” – Excerpt from Skradin’s city stature from 14th century.
